Heads adorned with flowers, eyelids covered with glitter and the face, nose, and mouths concealed by masks – these were some of the most stand out makeup and hairstyles trends of the NYFW SS 2020. In the coming months, pages of fashion magazines such as Vogue, Essence, and online articles will feature these looks. Artists, tv personalities, celebrities, and influential fashionistas will already be wearing them. In the meantime, local makeup artists, and hairstylists will work to master these latest looks, making the looks accessible to our local fashionistas. Many of you will adapt the looks on your own, inspired by images found in this article, magazines, and other popular sources.

In part 2 of this Fashion and makeup trends episode 2, I will feature makeup and hairstyles from New York fashion week Fall 2020 and show ways to adapt them to your style personality.

Vampire Bridal Looks

For the brave and lover of all things, gothic Rodarte fall runway makeup is the perfect look for you. Many described it as the vampire bridal look. It is relatively easy to recreate and can be adapted to fit different style personalities. I’ve featured three looks that you can choose from to create a similar look.

Image 1. Apply heavy dark eyeshadows to the eyelids and black eyeliner around the eyes, color the lips with deep-colored lips, and add lip liner. To add more drama and emphasize the facial features, wear hair high on the head with a fringe just over the eyebrows. This look works well for the creative and dramatic style personalities

Image 2. Wear medium to heavy makeup and adorn head with flowers. This look works well for the dramatic and romantic personalities

Image 3 and 4. To achieve a subtler version of the vampire bridal look wear softer or nude makeup, with a medium to a deep-colored hat or hair decorations. This look is appropriate for conventional and natural style personalities.

Many of Mark Jacob’s models wore prominent red lips. Depending on your style personality, this look is very wearable and achievable with little effort.

Image 1. Apply dark thick brow powder or pencil to the eyebrow and wear prominent red lipstick on the lips – this look will complement the creative style personality

Image 2. Apply thick black thick liner around the eyes and lots of lashes -with bright red lipstick. This look works for the dramatic style personality

Image 3. Wear the eyebrows natural and make the lips stand out with prominent red lipsticks – this look can be worn by conventional and natural style personalities on special occasions.

These looks are reminiscent of Dirty Pineapple glittered eyelids, Prabal Gurung pastel punk looks, and the nude eyes of Jeffery Dodds models. To recreate these designer looks, here are some suggestions:

Image 1. To create the glittered eyelids, apply glitter eyeshadow to the eyelids. Colors such as blue, gold, and silver are a few to try. These will look captivating and you will stand out; suitable for creative and dramatic style personalities.

Image 2. To create the punk pastel look wear pale green or sea green eyeshadow, and outline the eyes with heavy black eyeliner. Wear nude or with a deep lilac or grey colored lipsticks. This look is suitable for the dramatic style personality

Image 3. To create the nude look, wear a color over the eyelid that’s close to your skin-tone such as neutral sand, cocoa, slate brown or rosy taupe, and a small amount of mascara on the lashes. This look is suitable for conventional and natural style personalities.

Most of the looks featured here are more suitable for the creatives and dramatic style personalities. However, they can be adapted in a variety of ways for most style personalities. Have fun and enjoy experimenting with the looks.
